Shima Ghods is an Iranian visual artist and architect, born in Tehran in 1984 and based in Rotterdam. Her practice encompasses drawing and painting on paper, as well as photography, and emerges from a dialogue between Persian poetry, Iranian miniature painting, and a contemporary engagement with the body and lived experience.
In her work, line is more than the boundary of form; it carries language and memory, at times becoming a figure and at others extending into negative space. Poetry does not stand outside the image but is woven into its structure.
Her figures are often faceless not to erase identity, but to release the image from a single, fixed identity. Intimacy, migration, desire, loss, and the search for peace recur throughout her work. Black and white remain the foundation of her visual language, while color enters certain works sparingly and deliberately.
Ghods holds a Master’s degree in Art Research, in the field of Art and Culture Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in the Restoration and Conservation of Historic Buildings.
Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Iran and Europe, including the solo exhibition “Peace” in Paris in 2025 and group exhibitions at Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam in 2026.
She is an artist member of Arti et Amicitiae, one of the largest and oldest artists’ associations in the Netherlands, founded in 1839.
دربارهٔ هنرمند
شیما قدس، هنرمند تجسمی و معمار ایرانی، متولد ۱۳۶۳ در تهران و ساکن روتردام است. فعالیت هنری او طراحی و نقاشی روی کاغذ و عکاسی را در برمی گیرد و از گفت و گوی میان شعر فارسی، نگارگری ایرانی و نگاهی معاصر به بدن و تجربه ی زیسته شکل می گیرد.
خط در آثار او صرفاً مرز فرم نیست؛ حامل زبان و حافظه است، گاه به پیکره بدل می شود و گاه در فضای خالی امتداد می یابد. شعر نیز بیرون از تصویر نمی‌ایستد، بلکه در ساختار آن تنیده می شود.
پیکره های او اغلب بی چهره‌اند؛ نه برای حذف هویت، بلکه برای رها کردن تصویر از هویتی واحد. صمیمیت، مهاجرت، میل، فقدان و جست و جوی آرامش از درون مایه های آثار او هستند. سیاه و سفید همچنان پایه ی اصلی زبان بصری اوست، اما رنگ در برخی آثار، محدود و آگاهانه، وارد تصویر می شود.
شیما دارای کارشناسی ارشد پژوهش هنر در حوزه ی مطالعات هنر و فرهنگ و معماری و کارشناسی مرمت و احیای بناهای تاریخی است.
آثار او در نمایشگاه های انفرادی و گروهی در ایران و اروپا ارائه شده‌اند؛ از جمله نمایشگاه انفرادی مجموعه ی «صلح» در پاریس در سال ۲۰۲۵ و نمایشگاه های گروهی در آرتی آمیسیتا آمستردام در سال ۲۰۲۶ می باشند.
او عضو هنرمند آرتی آمیسیتا است؛ یکی از بزرگ ترین و قدیمی ترین انجمن های هنرمندان هلند که در سال ۱۸۳۹ تاسیس شده است.
